Presentation

Laura Katrine Skinnebach, born in Kalundborg in 1972.

Combined master’s degree in Communication studies and History at the University of Roskilde (2003). Simultaneously studies at Centre for Christianity and the Arts followed by one year occupation as research assistant at Centre for the Study of the Cultural Heritage of Medieval Rituals at University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Theology.

From 2005 PhD student at The Cultural History Collections / Department of Art History at University of Bergen, and appointed Dr. Art. in Bergen 2013 with the dissertation Practises of Perception. Devotion and the Senses in Late Medieval Northern Europe.

In 2014 received two years postdoc grant from the Danish Research Counsil for Independent Research with a research project on Early Lutheran Devotional Practice in Denmark which will be conducted at Department of Aesthetics and Communication, Aarhus University, Denmark.

 Research Areas

– Medieval and Early Modern devotional practice.
– History of the devotional sensorium; Devotional perception, the inner and outer senses, synesthesia and the incorporation of material objects
– Theories of practice and perception, both medieval, early modern and contemporary
